Located in downtown Vancouver, Earls Test Kitchen serves a variety of purposes, including staff training and real-time diner engagement. A state-of-the-art audiovisual system allows the public to see live streams of their dishes being prepared and conceptualized throughout the week. In addition to the test kitchen, the project also involved renovations to the second-floor space. 

Smith + Andersen was engaged to provided electrical engineering design for this project.

The electrical upgrade provided a challenge due to insufficient available power. To accommodate this, the electrical design and equipment selection was critical. LED lighting and low energy consumption equipment was procured. Further load testing was performed to ensure adequate loading.

Smith + Andersen has engaged with the Earls Restaurant Group as the engineering design consultant on more than 15 locations across Canada and the United States.
