How to win work and influence people.

Adrianne graduated in 2011 from McMaster University in the field of mechanical engineering, and joined Smith + Andersen shortly afterwards. She quickly established herself as a hands-on designer with a clear understanding of client vision, and has since taken on a range of project types of varying complexity and scope. Adrianne delivers consistently quality work that is defined by her astute interpretation of client needs.

“I love the collaborative effort of bringing all these people from different parts of the industry together to come up with creative solutions. Each of us bring our own technical expertise, but being able to work with each other, to bring that to the challenge or problem that we're all facing, and coming up with a really creative solution.”

Adrianne translates specifications into innovative, cost-effective solutions, demonstrating the knowledge and experience to get the job done accurately and efficiently. As a result, she regularly provides solutions that allow the architecture or interior design of a project to shine, as evidenced by her work on projects such as the Ingenium Conservation and Collection Centre in Ottawa, the landmark Lansdowne Park Horticulture Building renovation, and Shopify's office space at 234 Laurier Avenue in Ottawa. Adrianne also led the mechanical design team for 70 Gloucester Street (Loop By Claridge), which won first place in the Residential Category at the 2023 ASHRAE Society Technology Awards.

A member of the Executive Committee of the ASHRAE Ottawa Chapter, Adrianne invests a significant amount of her time in bringing up future generations of engineers, and is particularly passionate about seeing more women enter the building consulting industry. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the ASHRAE Ottawa Chapter, she received the Baker-Oakes Award for Chapter Excellence in May 2021.
