Below is a bit more information about Chris (Toronto) and Raed (Hamilton) – their tenure at Smith + Andersen, their areas of specialty, and why we’re excited to welcome them as Principals.

Chris McPherson

B.E.Sc., P.Eng., LEED Green Associate

Toronto

A leader on Toronto's electrical team, Chris thrives in today's collaborative, technology-driven design processes. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Chris joined Smith + Andersen two decades ago and has grown as a respected team leader. Chris' expertise has been critical on numerous public sector projects, primarily in the post-secondary and healthcare market sectors. Most notably, Chris was the electrical project manager for the award-winning Humber River Hospital development. Following this massive healthcare project, Chris helped create and implement numerous internal processes and methods to support consistency, accuracy, and overall quality on large P3 projects. As a frequent leader during the pursuit stage of many such projects, Chris has developed trusted expertise in this delivery method, earning the respect of numerous stakeholders across the industry.

Raed El-Khatib

An engineering professional with 11 years of industry experience (all with S+A!), Raed is a trusted leader with exceptional project management skills. He quickly became involved with some of the most significant projects in southwestern Ontario, gaining experience with everything from post-secondary renovations and laboratory design to commercial fit-ups. Later, as a project manager, Raed was able to combine his unique business acumen with this technical engineering expertise to steer significant local projects such as Fanshawe College School of Culinary Arts, and the University of Windsor School of Creative Arts. Raed is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), previously sitting on the Board of Governors for the London Chapter.
