True north.
The Tim Hortons headquarters is a unique, on-brand workplace in what was once the former trading floor and offices of the Toronto Stock Exchange in the Exchange Tower. This two-level head office in the Central Business District of Toronto embraces modern design elements while putting the company’s Canadian roots on full display. The office space includes coffee and tea stations (of course!), a large staff café, an outdoor terrace, and a new test kitchen.
Seeking a unified approach, an integrated solution from every discipline on the design team. Smith + Andersen was engaged as the mechanical, electrical, communications, security, and audio-visual design consultants for this project.

The definition of a warm atmosphere.
Electrically, power distribution was provided for the new kitchen innovation lab, the UPS system was relocated to the site, and a new LAN room was created (supplementing four IT rooms). Specialty lighting was installed across the entire space, and new lighting controls were implemented.
An electronic card access control system was designed to enhance the security of the headquarters by controlling, managing, and logging access. A video intercom system was also implemented, allowing visitors to interact with reception via an audio-visual experience before entering the office.
