Re-defining luxury.

Zara at Lakestone is a two-building condominium development located in Lake Country in the Okanagan. Each building is six-storeys, designed by Integra Architecture. Smith + Andersen was engaged to provide mechanical and electrical engineering. Footprint was also engaged, providing energy modelling and sustainability consulting for the project.

The building is constructed from concrete and steel for durability, maximizing comfort and minimizing sound transfer. The fifth floor features a skywalk, bridging the two Zara buildings and offering spectacular views of Lake Okanagan and the mountains. Resort-inspired amenities include an infinity edge pool, tennis and basketball courts, Benchland and Waterside parks, a community swim dock, and a 28 km trail system for hiking and mountain biking. Designated parking stall feature electrical vehicle charging infrastructure.

The mechanical design was specifically focused on accommodating the steel and concrete construction of the building, which created space limitations for mechanical equipment. The design includes water source heat pumps for heating and air conditioning, and a central domestic hot water system.

The building is compliant with the BC Building Code and ASHRAE 90.1, and every aspect of the project design prioritized sustainability.
