Peace and tranquility in sub-zero climates.

Located in Whistler, BC the Scandinave Spa encompasses an environment of peace and tranquility in sub-zero weather conditions. This was the key engineering feat as our mechanical and electrical engineers found solutions to balance the high humidity of the environment with winter weather.

The client’s vision was to upgrade a traditional and relaxing oasis. It is one of four Scandinave Spas and this Whistler-based location needed to be on brand with the aesthetic of the other locations while maintaining its functionality throughout harsh winter conditions. The hydrotherapy experience provided throughout the spa consists of a sauna and a steam room as well as three different types of relaxing rooms. The spa also features solariums, exterior terraces and green roofs. Guests can sit in hot baths, surrounded by nature while snow falls around them.

Our mechanical and electrical designers not only designed spaces with the guests in mind, we also provided services in two main living areas for spa staff to live on site. From hot bath to cold bath to saunas and steam rooms, this indoor-outdoor experience is inspired by the nature that surrounds it.

The upgrades concluded in 2016 and guests (as well as staff) have been enjoying their accommodations ever since.
