Coordinated care facility meets coordinated design implementation.

The Aline-Chrétien Health Hub (formerly the Orléans Health Hub) provides a wide range of specialized and community healthcare services for patients with chronic conditions requiring coordinated care. Coordination was also a reoccurring theme throughout the duration of this project as our mechanical, electrical, security, audio-visual,  intelligent integrated systems, and sustainability (Footprint) teams worked together to design systems that not only complemented each other, but also accommodated the many specialty areas in the hub.

From exam and treatment rooms to rehabilitation gyms and diagnostic imaging areas (MRI, radiography, ultrasound, x-ray), the entirety of this facility complies with applicable CSA Standards for healthcare facilities. Our mechanical team designed HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems with an effort to maximize energy efficiency. These efforts continued through to our energy efficient LED lighting and intelligent wireless control systems were designed for optimal energy efficiency while maximizing comfort, functionality, flexibility, and value. Simultaneously, Health Hub’s electrical design includes a utility service for power distribution, a distributed UPS system for specific network systems back-up, and a sub-metering system that monitors the energy usage of various systems for tenant energy usage billing.

Smith + Andersen worked with Infrastructure Ontario, Monfort Hospital, HDR Architecture, and Ellis Don Infrastructure Healthcare to design this building. Project timeline remained a priority for all parties involved and as a result, construction stayed on track for a dual phase opening.
