LEED Gold

LEEDing the way for workplace sustainability.

Located in downtown Calgary, 38-storey Jamieson Place includes five levels of below-grade parking and mixed retail on the main level. The +15 level has provisions for a future connection to the adjacent BP Tower.

Smith + Andersen provided mechanical engineering services for the project, which had a focus on sustainable design.

Ahead on sustainability.

The office tower obtained LEED Core and Shell 2.0 Gold rating. To achieve certification, a chilled water re-claim loop was provided on the ventilation air system to reduce energy usage by pre-heating outside air when heating, and increasing chiller efficiencies when cooling is required. Condensing boilers, and variable speed pumping on the chilled and heating water systems are used to provide further energy savings.

The +15 level Wintergarden  uses a radiant cooling/heating slab in conjunction with a displacement ventilation system to offset the large radiation loads from the extensive glazing. The system consists of PEX tubes cast into the concrete slab to seamlessly integrate with the architecture of the building. Typical floors are served with chilled water compartment units located in the core with hot water radiant panel at the perimeter.
