This new public library replaced an existing, aging facility to help revitalize the downtown core. The building was featured at the 2004 Master Builders exhibit. An impressive limestone and copper exterior houses program areas such as collections, study rooms, administration offices, archive storage, and community meeting rooms. The library portion was opened in June 2005, with the Civic Square completed in September 2005.
The building's mechanical systems incorporate variable air volume terminals for temperature control, flexibility and energy efficiency. The heating system is gas-fired.
