The TTC Subway Downtown Relief Line South aims to relieve crowding on TTC's Yonge-University Line 1 (while also providing additional transit options within Toronto). The line connects the Osgoode, Queen, and Pape Stations through the addition of eight underground subway stations.
Smith + Andersen is providing mechanical and electrical design consultation for two of the eight stations: Broadview-Eastern Station and Carlaw Station. The electrical design scope includes low voltage systems.
Carlaw Station includes an integrated traction power substation, which provides redundant 15 kV feeders to multiple stations and rectifies AC power to DC to service the subway third rail.
