Bow Valley College - North Campus Renovation

This project is a joint venture mechanically between Smith + Andersen and Stantec (Keen Engineering). The project consists of a total renovation of the existing 26,000 square metre space with the addition of approximately 2,000 square metre. It includes upgrades to the administration and office areas, kitchen, daycare, bookstore, classrooms and labs.

The previously unsprinklered building is now provided with new sprinklers, new upgraded washrooms, new boilers, and new roof-mounted air conditioning units. Existing infrastructure, including piping and existing indoor air conditioning units, are also upgraded and reused where possible. This project is LEED Certified.

The final mechanical systems include a variety of central station variable air volume, fan coil units provided with make-up air from new roof-mounted equipment, and a mixture of existing and new perimeter hot water heating through perimeter radiation, radiant panels and force flow and unit heaters for spot heating at entrances and exits. The building also features a partial green roof on one level.
