The new Hyatt Andaz Hotel in Ottawa marks the first Andaz branded hotel to be opened in Canada, and the first Hyatt hotel in the city. Located in Byward Market, the 200 suite hotel features a destination restaurant, meeting facilities, rooftop bar/lounge, as well as an outdoor terrace overlooking the city.
Designed by DCYSA (now Neuf Architectes (Canada) inc.)
Mechanically, modular chillers provide both excellent capacity control as well as a level of redundancy. The mechanical design also includes condensing boilers, which provide energy efficient heating. Four pipe fan coil terminal units within the suites provide the ability to heat or cool (based on the individual occupants temperature preferences).
The Andaz Hotel electrical system originates from a new shared hydro vault, and a new 600V, 5000A customer switchgear, provisioned for the hotel and future developments.
The exterior lighting at the lobby level is designed with LED luminaries to enhance the building entrance features and guide the public. The building crown has a combination of down and up lighting to graze the exterior upper façade and down lights are concealed in the exposed trellis structure.
