Regional Distribution Centre

Designed by Gibbs Gage Architects

A new 1,400,000 square foot distribution centre located just north of the Calgary airport was commissioned in order for a major US retailer to enter into the Canadian market. This distribution centre is a state-of-the-art, fully-automated facility from the point of product being removed from a truck to the time it is loaded onto trucks to be shipped to their stores. This facility contains 30,000 square feet of office and support space for the staff. The design of the facility required extensive coordination between multiple groups, including the supplier of the automation equipment.

S + A Services Included:

Mechanical systems for the main warehouse/shipping building included 27 make-up air units, unit heaters and de-stratification fans. Infrared heaters were provided in the loading dock areas. Variable air volume rooftop air handling units were used for the office area and dedicated cooling units for the computer room.
