This new computer and telecommunications switching and technical support centre is a two storey complex.
The computer room cooling is provided through air cooled Liebert air conditioning units. The support centre heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system consists of roof-mounted packaged single zone A/C units with hot water terminal reheat. Humidification to the building is provided with packaged Nortec humidifiers. The building is equipped with a direct digital control (DDC) system.
In addition, various projects at the building included upgrades to the mechanical systems such as: a Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA), rotary uninterruptible power supply (UPS), emergency power generation and computer room air conditioning units.
Two new 1670kVA rotary uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and Triblock generators were installed in a parallel redundant architecture which supply a series of dual source static switch power distribution units (PDUs). This system incorporates a complete high resistance grounding system, including pulsing for fault locating. A second utility feeder was added to the site, as well as two 100% redundant outdoor 5000 kVA transformers.
The complete upgrade took place in a live functioning data centre, and through careful phasing and planning, there were no disruptions to operations. The completed system gives the data centre substantially increased reliability and capacity for future growth.
