The Library and Cultural Centre for Bradford West Gwillimbury is located north of Holland Street W and east of West Park Avenue, in the town of Bradford, Ontario. The 40,000 square foot library includes reading areas, a performing arts room, arts exhibit area, a café, administration offices, a heritage centre, and a computer lab on two floors. This project has achieved LEED Gold Certification, utilizing energy efficient lighting and lighting controls.
Occupancy sensors were provided in all office areas, washrooms and storage rooms and in all service rooms that do not house mechanical equipment. Sensors are compatible with electronic ballasts. Switching of any electronic ballasts does not induce a "false reading" in the sensors.
Mechanical and electrical room lighting is controlled by standard wall switches. A low voltage lighting control system was provided. Operation of the system is independent of all other building systems and independently powered. All lighting is controlled by the lighting control system. Interior lighting within 4.5 meters of windows is automatically turned off when sufficient daylight is available or the lighting is not required during night time hours.
