Relocating to a new office space in downtown Toronto, Colliers took an exciting, unconventional approach to creating their modern workplace environment. Occupying two floors of 181 Bay Street, their goal was to achieve connected, flowing office areas which would encourage productivity while also attracting top talent for years to come. Smith + Andersen was engaged as mechanical, electrical, audio-visual (AV), communications, and security consultants on this award-winning office space.
Like our work on many modern offices, the goal for our AV team on this project was to create unique space while still supporting a consistent user experience. An executive meeting room utilizes Microsoft technology (including Surface Hub), with an interactive touch screen display system. This executive space also includes cameras, allowing users to connect to worldwide locations through video conferencing. A large cafe is another feature of this innovative Colliers office space, integrating small booths as impromptu meeting spaces. Each booth is equipped with its own private TV, accommodating separate meetings as required. Two operable walls (one separating the cafe and the lounge, the other the lounge and the reception area) open up the possibilities of the space even further. The two-way community lounge area can expand to accommodate client events, welcoming guests through the impressive reception area adorned with a large video wall (four displays combined to total a 110" diagonal screen).
