Servus Arena

Designed by GEC Architecture

The new Servus Arena in Red Deer was constructed to meet the needs of a growing community, as well as to serve as a venue for the 2019 Canada Winter Games. The arena features room-temperature seating for 1,588 spectators, an indoor walking track, modern change facilities, and a laundry facility.

S + A Services Included:

Smith + Andersen provided the electrical design for the venue. The project was designed using Revit, allowing for seamless coordination between all of the building service and architectural designs. Distribution services for the building were designed with additional capacity to allow for future growth and expansion.

The lighting design utilizes LED fixtures and occupancy sensors throughout to promote energy efficiency and cost savings. Unique lighting accommodations were made in the lobby and ice rink areas to suit feature ceilings. A high ceiling in the lobby and a curved ceiling over the rink required detailed lighting calculations to establish fixture heights and layouts to provide a consistent level of lighting for the athletes.
