Located in Surrey, British Columbia this project involved a new Walmart structure, a new parkade, a mall expansion and upgrades to the existing mall.
Phase 1: Walmart (140,000 sf) and a parkade structure. Part of this phase was to upgrade the BC Hydro service from 12KV to 25KV as the mall is now too large for a 12KV circuit. This involved setting up a 25KV to 12KV distribution to back feed the existing 12KV sub-station within the mall.
Phase 2: Consisted of a 400,000 sf two-level mall expansion with approximately 70 new tenants including the food court. The Phase 2 mall expansion component was certified LEED Gold.
Phase 3: Involved upgrading all the common areas with new ceiling and floor finishes and new tenant redemising. The existing fire alarm system was modified to a two-stage addressable system to integrate with the existing major tenants and Phase 1 system. Fiber optic communications systems for mall operations was also part of the design package.
