The Bow Valley College South Campus is a seven-storey facility which houses a new bookstore, cafeteria, classrooms, and three levels of underground parking with a loading dock to be shared with the adjacent Calgary Public Library. The 4th floor terrace, complete with a green roofing system, is used in combination with controlled flow roof drains and a storm water retention reservoir to reduce the storm water discharge flow rate. This project has achieved LEED Silver Certification.
Cooling is provided by a variable air volume system and modular induction diffusers. The induction diffusers also have connections to heating water, supplementing the perimeter radiation heating system. Heating water is provided by district heating; Bow Valley College is one of the first buildings connecting to Enmax's District Energy plant, through water-to-water heat exchangers. Domestic hot water is also provided using heat exchangers.
