Projects are always motivated by both immediate and long-term deadlines. But while these deadlines eventually draw to a close, the relationships we form with clients – much like the buildings themselves – remain. In many instances, these strong relationships have led to repeat work. Such was the case with Cross Iron Mills Regional Shopping Centre in Rockyview County, Alberta - the latest phase of which has been featured in the April 2017 issue of Award Magazine. We’re proud to have been involved with the design and growth of Cross Iron Mills since before their doors first opened back in 2009.

CrossIron Mills Regional Shopping Centre, just north of Calgary, was the first “concept mall” in Western Canada. A consumer-friendly and welcoming environment, the greatly-anticipated shopping centre first opened in 2009. After just five short years, the 1.4 million sf mall underwent a $64-million expansion which wraps up this spring. True to the original structure, this expansion features unique structural curves, extensive skylights, soaring glass and, thanks to the mechanical design of the Smith + Andersen Calgary team, high-efficiency equipment with excellent life-cycle operating costs. As the growth of Cross Iron Mills Regional Shopping Centre shows no signs of slowing down, our Calgary team is proud to work with industry leaders like Dialog, JPRA Design, and Ledcor Construction.
