IT Technician

The Toronto office of Smith + Andersen is seeking a full-time IT service technician to join our team. You are a highly motivated team player with excellent communication skills. You have experience in IT support and are happy being the go-to person for the company’s IT needs. You are flexible, patient, and adaptable, and your primary goal is providing excellent service. Does this sound like you? If so, here are some of the more detailed responsibilities you can expect in this position:

  • Provide first level support to employees using internal ticket system; ensure tickets are updated, completed and closed in a timely manner.  Provide support directly via phone and remote desktop.
  • Setup computers via imaging process.
  • Manage the setup and configuration of computers for new employees.
  • Install laptop and desktop hardware and software and manage upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Provide support on Android, iOS platforms for portable devices.
  • Manage hardware inventory and components.
  • Troubleshoot/maintain printers and plotters as well as software.
  • Backup and Restore user data.

A few more qualifications which will help you with these responsibilities:

  • Must be able to work from 10:00am-7:00pm Monday through Thursday and 11:30am-4:00pm on Fridays.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in IT support, end user support.
  • At least 1 year working with Microsoft Windows Deployment Server (WDS).
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant technical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to fix desktop workstations; disassemble, assemble and replace parts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exposure to ticketing systems and help desk workflow.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Windows 7/10 and Microsoft Office 2016
  • Experience with Autodesk Autocad and Revit considered an asset.
  • Must be able to travel to regional offices when required.
  • Successful candidate will provide weekend support on rotating basis.
